Uganda Climate Network

The Uganda Climate Network (UCN) is Uganda’s first cross-industry climate collaboration platform.

The Uganda Climate Network (UCN) is Uganda’s first cross-industry climate collaboration platform comprising a pioneering community of climate professionals, uniting thought leaders, innovators, policymakers, and grassroots champions dedicated to advancing climate action across the country. As the collective voice for Uganda’s climate-focused industries, UCN leads the narrative on climate solutions and advocates for a future where Uganda’s resources and potential can drive climate action on a global scale.

With its vast potential in renewable energy, thriving nature-based projects, and a developing carbon market, Uganda is poised to be a climate change leader in Africa. However, achieving climate goals requires more than isolated efforts. UCN bridges gaps, bringing together the diverse voices and expertise of those in climate-focused fields. Through our thriving network, members gain the opportunity to engage, share knowledge, and collaborate on solutions that contribute to Uganda’s climate-positive journey.

Our story

The idea to start UCN began in February 2024 during the African Climate Summit as a solution to provide a common platform for all climate change key stakeholders. However, it was not until April 2024 that the three co-founders were able to meet and discuss setting up the UCN to address some of the challenges faced by the climate change community.

In October 2024, we held our first networking event with over 20 organisations and climate professionals attending. Everyone agreed on the need for a platform such as UCN to be a voice for the community as well as curating other events and programs that will build the capacity of all members. So the co-founders decided to formally launch UCN.

Our work

UCN runs regular networking events for climate-focused professionals in Uganda. We help professionals to connect at events, provide a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing, and find ways to collectively contribute to building Uganda’s climate ecosystem.

Impact

Our goal is to have over 1,000 active members of climate professionals, uniting thought leaders, innovators, policymakers, and grassroots champions dedicated to advancing climate action across the country.
