Our story in Tanzania
Our Tanzania Co-Founders came together in early 2024 after meeting with the Nairobi chapter during Africa Climate Week in Nairobi in July 2023.
The co-founders were inspired by how The Climate Network (TCN) was able to create sectoral dialogue and policy engagements in Nairobi as evidenced at Africa Climate Week (ACW) and noticed that a major gap existed in the Tanzanian market for climate sector collaboration and dialogues among market actors.
Our work
16th July 2024: The Climate Network launched the Tanzania Climate Network, bringing together 40 members of its Tanzania chapter for an evening of networking at Residence of the British High Commissioner in Dar es Salaam. Co-Founders Rehema Mbalamwezi, Syakaa William and Annika Richter shared the network’s plans to build connections and partnerships across climate sectors, industries and professions in Tanzania.
We received support to launch our network in Dar es Salaam by the British High Commission in Tanzania and continue to engage with partners with an interest to facilitate urgent climate action in adaptation and mitigation in Tanzania.
Impact
We intend to be a catalyst for the development and implementation of high impact climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in Tanzania by facilitating partnerships and creating an enabling environment for climate work.
We convey some of the most skillful and knowledgeable climate professionals in the country, creating ease of access to information and capacity building in a multitude of areas such as carbon markets, regenerative agriculture , renewable energy, and biodiversity and conservation.
