Our story in Kenya

The Nairobi Climate Network started as a small group of climate professionals meeting to share news and ideas. It has since grown to a vibrant community driving the climate movement in Kenya.

Our work

We enable our COMMUNITY of climate professionals to:

  • CONNECT with a climate community: build local relationships in the climate space and share in-person experiences to build understanding and partnership
  • COLLABORATE with peers and partners: share their views, achievements, and opportunities on a members platform to collaborate with both local and global stakeholders
  • CONTRIBUTE to the climate ecosystem: join expert groups and create shared outputs on topical issues that help to inform policy making, share network insights and showcase climate action

Impact

The Nairobi Climate Network is the voice of Kenya’s climate industry, connecting professionals, fostering collaboration, and championing climate-positive growth.  By bridging silos in Kenya’s climate ecosystem, the Nairobi Climate Network, creates a space for professionals to network and amplify their work, connects local organisations climate solutions to attract investment, and elevates African leadership.

As a trusted partner to government and industry, the Nairobi Climate network has supported in shaping Kenya’s carbon market regulations and supported the creation of the Carbon Markets Association of Kenya (CAMAK).  The Nairobi Climate Network also showcases groundbreaking innovations on global stages, including the Global Off-Grid Solar Forum, Africa Tech Summit, and Sankalp. Together, we are driving transformative impact and positioning Kenya as a hub for global climate action.

Duncan Kariuki – Octavia Carbon

Duncan Kariuki is the Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Octavia Carbon

Duncan first heard about the Nairobi Climate Network through a colleague and attended his first NCN event in May 2022. The network has helped him to meet other climate professionals in the country, and he particularly appreciates the connections to people in government, innovators, investors, and customers. Octavia Carbon  unveiled their first prototype at an NCN event in September 2022. They were able to garner lots of publicity from that event and put the company on the map.

NCN definitely has a great impact on Kenya’s climate ecosystem. Every gathering I attend is always a learning experience for me.We’re stronger together and NCN is the sole unifying body for all climate professionals in Kenya.
